UNDERSTANDING YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE.

Yesterday I spent some time of Twitter and stumbled on an sound system and TV brand. It’s the first time I’ve seen or heard about them and I absolutely fell in love at first glance.
.
Heard of Bang and Olufsen? Yeah, that’s the one.
.
They make stylish sound system and TV sets. Crazy designs if you ask me.
.
What got me hooked is not even their signature Danish oak design, it’s their ad. Their ad copy is absolutely fantastic and rides on pride and arrogance.
.
In my entire life, pride or arrogance have never felt this appealing to me. If you see the ad copy, you’ll understand.
.
See, what Bang&Olufsen exemplify here is simply a thorough understanding of who their target audience is. A first hand understanding of who you want to sell to and what appeals to them. (Remember when I talked about people being rational beings who make irrational buying decisions?)
.
When business strategist like myself keep speaking about “target audience” this is what we mean.
.
If you’re in Bang&Olufsen target market, this is literally what will happen when you see the ad.
.
You see the ad, get angry. You’ll look at the ad again and get even angrier, go to their online store or a physical store and angrily buy one of their product in anger just to show them that you can
.
You’ld probably be like “give me a Beosound 2, you know what? F*ck it, give me 2 of those and a Beoplay A9” in arrogance.
.
You know what? If you do this, you would have done exactly what they want you to do. That’s how powerful understanding your target audience can be.
.
Don’t take my word for it, just see the the ad copies below.
.
By the way guys, if you have not exactly identified your target market and audience,  you probably shouldn’t be running a business but it’s better late than never.  I can help you do this in this free period of #StayAtHome.
