Sometime last year, I had budgeted 20k for paid advert (Facebook and Instagram).
My plan was to run a ad for a new product so I could get leads and eventually make sales. I wasn’t going to outsource the job, I was simply going to depend on what I’ve learnt about running ads on Youtube. Big risk yeah? I didn’t think so then.
So here was me with limited resources about to gamble with the limited resources. I was pretty much ready to do trial and error with 20k with close to zero guarantee of a sale.
Just about that time, I saw a training for Facebook advert around my budget. It looked like something that would be worth it but I was still caught in between two decision. Pay for this training and properly learn how to do it right or run ad with YouTube knowledge and make quick sale ??.
I eventually paid for the training and the rest they say is history.
Off what I’ve learnt, I’ve not only ran profitable ads for myself, I have helped businesses run profitable ads and gotten thrilling result. I get paid, they get result, everybody is happy.
I can only imagine what would have happened of I had chosen the short term gratification. I probably would have made a few lucky sale or completely dash out the money to Broda Mark.
I have consistently ran ads for myself even for lesser and I’ve made money on the side running ads for others.
Short term gratification is a killer guys, you enjoy a tiny win but not a big win. Those who aim for the big kill always have a waiting period, that period is crucial, don’t despise it. While you wait, horn your skills, learn new ones, grow gradually but steadily and you’ll be better for it.
Don’t do short term, wait and enjoy the long term.
