HECK! PERSONAL BRANDING IS TOUGH!

What if I told you it’s not as tough as you think?

Whether you know it or not, you’re a personal brand. You can then leave your personal brand to chance or consciously build it and dictate the narrative.

Personal branding is the process of marketing yourself/what you do as a brand. Think about marketing yourself as a physical product, say the iPhone X. That’s personal branding.

In this age social media marketing, creating a personal brand for your business comes from the place of SELF-AWARENESS; identifying who you are and what you want others to think of you and your business. In other words your personal brand has to do with establishing an image or impression for which you want others to know your business for. These impressions are communicated using CONTENT.

To build a personal brand with your business, consider a few things that would help you do that fast.

1. Live an Ideology and know your value: Ideologies simply put are a set of ideas or believe system that guide your decision making process. Let your business stand for something, understand that thing and know the value.

2. Communicate the Ideology: It’s not enough that your business is known for a particular thing, you should be able to communicate effectively that thing you are known for. This is done using CONTENT(text posts, videos, audios etc). Rather than telling people your value, show them results. That way you communicate better and your brand grows faster.

3. Deliver value consistently: There’s a lot of other brands like you seeking for attention faster than you think. To grow your brand, consistently deliver value to your customers and earn bragging rights.

What you put out on your social media pages rubs off on your brand because it’s the first experience people have about your business before getting to transact with or know you personally.

Get conscious and intentional about what you post and how you post, how you respond to potential customers and enquiries, the colour you want to be known for and how it affects your business, other brands you identify with, your value systems etc. All these things and more has an effect on your personal brand and your business.
